I grew up on the move, with a family perfect for an artist in the making. As a child I couldn't appreciate my struggles and that of my family but as an adult I have been able to wrangle in my emotions and utilize my past to create the work you see today. My past will always play a part in my future and that of my art which is something I have come to appreciate and respect.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education from Belmont University in Nashville Tennessee, in May 2013. I knew from an early age that I wished to work with art in some form or fashion and it was during my high school years that I made the decision to teach. My love for people and interaction is only a small part of my reasoning behind choosing a teaching degree, my love for children and their imaginations and voices played a much larger role. I currently teach at an inner city middle school grades 5th- 8th. For more information on the classroom and our lessons take a look at the lessons blog and the teachers blog.
During my undergrad years I worked on a large series of clay sculptures called Trials and Tribulations a series heavily based on my childhood and personal experiences. I have only just recently begun a new series of illustrations focusing on more recent experiences and emotions since beginning my professional career as an educator and as an educator in an inner city school.
